Sustainable Development Goals

Project NEW in collaboration with SDG Choupal

Mapping UN’s Sustainable Development Goals with Project NEW to raise awareness among the youth and promote SDG implementation on-ground.

Section I: What are UN’s Sustainable Development Goals?

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 goals and 169 targets that all 193 UN Member States, including India have committed to achieve between 2015 and 2030 under the ‘Transforming the World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.’

The SDGs are viewed as guiding principles of socio-economic development to ensure that humanity and its future as a whole is more inclusive, equitable, prosperous and sustainable. In short, the SDGs present collective action plans for ensuring a sustainable future through global cooperation.

For North-east, the SDG driven agenda is extremely critical because of the fragile ecology of the region, and the fact that the embedding of SDG into the policy narrative will give a sustainable direction to growth in the region.

5 Ps of SDGs- People, Planet, Partnerships, Prosperity and Peace.
